Unless your risk is very low, or you have recently had a full body skin check, we usually recommend you have a full body skin check by an accredited skin cancer doctor.

Even if you are only concerned about one or two spots, you might have a skin cancer you are unaware of. This is why we recommend a full body mole check for most people. You could have skin cancer in a place you can’t check yourself, or one that might not look “suspicious” to you.

In Australia, about 25% of melanoma cases are detected by a doctor, with the patient being unaware of their presence. Although many of these melanomas may later have been detected by the patient, melanomas detected by doctors are discovered earlier. They are, therefore, more likely to be curable.
