GP referral information

Skin cancer and procedural referrals

Spot Check Clinic is a doctor-led skin cancer clinic in Melbourne CBD. Our doctors are GPs with additional qualifications and focused clinical experience in skin cancer medicine. We provide accessible, practical assessment, biopsy and in-clinic management of skin cancer within a defined scope of practice, with appropriate specialist referral when required.

We also accept referrals for selected skin surgery procedures including cyst and lipoma removal, earlobe repair and benign lesion excision.

Our aim is to complement general practice care, not replace it. We do not provide general practice services, and patients are returned to their usual GP for ongoing health care.

Skin cancer conditions we assess and manage

  • Suspicious lesions requiring dermoscopic evaluation

  • Early melanoma requiring prompt assessment
  • Patients with multiple or recurrent non-melanoma skin cancers
  • Solar keratoses and field cancerisation
  • Structured mole mapping and longitudinal surveillance using 3D total-body photography

Where required, we refer to dermatologists or surgical specialists for rare or complex tumours, advanced reconstruction, complex inflammatory dermatology, and conditions outside our scope.
