Skin checks, mole mapping and private health insurance

Medicare doesn't pay any rebate toward mole mapping or skin checks, but some private health insurers do. We've compiled a list of some of these insurers.

Unfortunately Medicare doesn’t pay any rebate toward molemapping, and the rebate paid for skin checks doesn’t cover the cost of providing a high quality comprehensive skin check.

Most of the largest private health insurers in Australia also do not pay any rebate for skin checks or mole mapping. The good news is that many Australian private health insurers contribute to the cost of skin checks and mole mapping, usually as part of their Extras package. We’ve compiled a list of some of these insurers.

If you have a policy with one of these insurers, inform our receptionist when you visit the clinic and they will process the necessary paperwork for your claim.
